Colin Hegarty is an award-winning teacher. He’s also the Founder of HegartyMaths and the Education Director at Numerise.

Hi there, it’s Mr Hegarty here, and I wanted to talk today a little bit about self-confidence.

Confidence in yourself is important in all aspects of life, from getting up in the morning and getting through the day successfully right the way through to learning, and how we do our maths learning in particular.

As Henry Ford once said, whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.

And what he meant by that is your outlook and confidence when starting a task, often has a big influence on how you get through that task. In particular, it’s really important that we have the confidence in ourselves to get started in maths, and the confidence to keep going in our maths practice, and that will help us get better.

And that’s why we’ve built Numerise. Numerise is here to give children that little and often deliberate practice to give them the confidence in their maths, and the pathway through to successful learning. Thank you.
